Tuning Boxes

On occasion, we can be persuaded to develop a go-faster box for an engine, generally common-rail turbo diesel engines.

The rules are that this electronics pack is a piggy-back controller that sits outside the ECU - no chipping or hacking into the original ECU is allowed.

A box should be able to work with no other engine modifications, and it should be possible to make a completely removable wiring looms. Obviously this is a starting point. In many cases, a more radical tune is possible if the box is supplimented by other modifications.

Every box has a switch option so they can be disabled by the driver; many have stepped or linear control of the upgrade. Tuning is done with a laptop with a serial port link while the engine is running. There are also built-in integrity test functions that run whenever the box is started.
